Another delay

Published by at 3:53 pm under Preparing the car

The crankshaft is still not finished. It is now expected by the end of September. Work is almost at a standstill waiting for the crankshaft. I have been getting on with more paintwork renovation to the body but Trevor has just about run out of jobs. When the crankshaft arrives it will be all systems go.

Sorry to hear the company are still not coming up with the goods on the crankshaft. It must be driving you mad now as its months late.

The story is quite a long one – all will be revealed later!!
But I can assure you nothing is going to jeopardise this trip to America.

    Hi Joy,
Does the continuing delays for the supply of the crankshaft affect your participation in the London to Brighton?

    Hi Paul,

Yes you are right, there’s no Brighton Run for us this year. This is a great disappointment as you can imagine: the Brighton Run being the most prestigious event that anyone could enter with a pre-1905 car. It now looks as though the Oldsmobile will be up and running by the end of the year, that is, if the crankshaft arrives soon. (Latest news – NEXT WEEK).

So Paul, we were originally expecting to be test driving the newly restored OLDS by August in the warm sunshine and now it looks like it will be December. By the way, fancy coming out with me with no protection from the elements i.e. no windscreen, no dash board in fact nothing but one’s clothing to protect from the elements to test drive and to get up those crucial test miles we need to find out if there any probems with the car before heading off for its trip of a lifetime in the winter?
    Cheers
    Joy
