The Drivers

Joy Rainey
Trevor Hulks
Both have extensive experience in many disciplines of motor sport, from Speed Hill-climbing, circuit racing and recently long distance rallying.
Joy achieved outright records and wins at many hill-climb venues throughout the UK during the eighties and nineties driving her Murrain Sports Racing car and single seater Pilbeam-Hart, as well as enjoying competing with a spectacular supercharged 1936 Alfa Romeo at vintage meetings.
Trevor achieved many victories, both on the circuit and in rallies in his MG TC. His best achievements were in a Cooper Mk 5 at hill-climb venues throughout the UK. He also enjoys participating in vintage motor-bike rallies riding various Rudge motorcycles.
In 2004 both drove the 10,000 mile London to Sydney Marathon in a 1970 Morris Minor to great aclaim.
As a contrast to participating in a classic car a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 became the competition car for the 2006 Carrera Sudamericana, a 5000 mile marathon through Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.
In October 2008 the pair will drive the Indian manufactured Hindustan Ambassador in the Karma Enduro, a rally in southern India to raise much needed funds for two worthwhile charities.
Then starting in May 2009 Trevor and Joy will set off from San Francisco for possibly their greatest adventure – a re-enactment of the Whitman and Hammond 1903 run from San Francisco to New York in an Oldsmobile Curved Dash Runabout.
It will be a trip of almost 4,000 miles, in a 105 year old horseless carriage.
